Hello my lovelies! I'm at my nan's at the moment doing the old standard present swap, who else does that? It is like a Christmas ritual in its own right! This means another scheduled post and another recipe. I have to admit I stole the idea from Charlotte (of 'Charlotte Says' fame) when she said she made festive rice krispy cakes. I stole it and took it to the other Charlotte's house, could this get any more traitorous/confusing?!
Anyway to make this all you need is basics chocolate, white chocolate, rice krispies and imagination. We melted the basics chocolate and then mixed it in the rice krispies, Charlotte put some golden syrup in, we did have to ask her younger sister Tish if that is how its done. She is a whiz kid at them, and apparently makes them all the time so she was very helpful to have on hand, two 22 year olds in a kitchen listening to Christmas songs isn't good. Then we squashed them into the cake cases in the cupcake tin and made sure the top was flat. This is so when they were turned out and upside down then would be straight.
We popped them in the freezer for half an hour and watched Christmas cooking programs. After they set we melted the white chocolate and drizzled it on top to look like icing. My mum had some holly leaves left over and I found some Christmas decorations so we used our artistic licence and stuck them on. Back in the fridge they went to set. Then we photographed them on Charlotte's new cake stand and one with her new Christmas tree called Bruce and tucked in. They're a nice little festive treat which are relatively cheap and easy to make. Perfect!
When did you last make rice krispy cakes?
