You're all about to be party to a little confession of mine.
I have a laugh which only seems to appear when I watch Friends. It's a deep throaty laugh which normally lasts about 3 seconds. No other programme makes me laugh like this and I've thought of all the explanations - is Friends just that funny? Is it because I know what is about to happen or do I relate to what is happening (who doesn't)?
It provides Lee with much amusement as I laugh my way through episode after episode. It's weird as I went off Friends for a couple of years after watching it to death on C4, but it is back in my life in a big way thanks to Comedy Central. I rely on it to cheer me up, and their apartments give me something to aspire to, I hope some time in the future I live in an flat that is like Monica's , with my friends just across the hall. Maybe I laugh because as I get older I genuinely believe there isn't a situation which can't be related back to a specific moment in an episode e.g. 'it's like when Joey got that turkey stuck on his head' or 'I wish my wedding was like Phoebe's'.
Whatever it is, don't watch Friends with me. I'll ruin it for you with a deep, throaty laugh every 2 minutes.
Anyone else have a funny TV laugh?
Becca x
Errr, no. You are weird.
ReplyDeleteBye.
No really it sounds quite funny :) I went off Friends for a bit too, but it's one of those comfortable shows you can rely on.. I'll think of you next time I watch an ep xxx
YES can't wait for you to think of my unsexy laugh when Friends pops up xxx
DeleteI have to watch an episode of Friends before I go to sleep.. It makes me so happy. Nothing better than a good "Ross Geller Moment" x

Hahaha I totally agree, Ross is a hero! xxx
DeleteI totally moved to New York because I wanted my life to be like Friends! Or atleast, it started my desire to move to New York :)
ReplyDeleteOh you are so lucky, I would love to go to NY one day xxx
DeleteHahaha no you and I are the exact same. A few years ago Friends was way overplayed, it became redundant and somewhat annoying - now I find it absolutely hilarious.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I would watch friends with my parents every Thursday night, it was such a good show and now I think it's making it's comeback!

I think it is making a comeback too, it needs a little break so you don't get overwhelmed xxx
DeleteI do that all the time- referencing Friends moments that coincide with my life! It pains me when people say 'ah, don't really watch friends'.
ReplyDeleteI know man, I know. So much is lost on non-Friends people! xxx
DeleteWhat's funny about me is that when I watch tv....I don't laugh! Literally, Friends, Family Guy, anything on Comedy Central - you name it, it doesn't make me laugh. What does make me chuckle however, is noticing silly faces characters have pulled without meaning to. A couple of months ago, Jay in EastEnders rolled his eyes while talking to Billy. Me and Ed rewound this countless times and laughed till our stomachs hurt. x
ReplyDeleteHahahha that sounds amazing! Maybe you have a 'funny face laugh'?! xxx
DeleteI definitely don't have a TV laugh, but this really made me smile! I've never been a fan of Friends though. I have tried so hard to get into it as I know so many people love it and have fond memories of the episodes, but it just doesn't seem to work. Maybe I just don't have a sense of humour. Bugger.
ReplyDeleteI might have to watch it with you some day though, just so I can hear that gruff, manly laugh.
xXx
Well it can't be for everyone, otherwise it would be boring. I do feel a bit of a loss when I start saying 'like on that episode of Friends' and they just stare blankly. Maybe we're all too Friends obsessed xxx
DeleteOh god, this is hilarious!! I have a similar sort of laugh when I watch the inbetweeners or gavin and stacey!!
ReplyDeletei do love a bit of friends though... xxx
I end up laughing to myself and waking others up if I'm watching comedy late at night. The worst for this is when I'm watching Ross Noble. x
