The Lake District

both from Pinterest

Last night I drank some wine and ate a delicious home made cheesy bake - based loosely on this recipe - and a strong urge to visit the Lake District came over me. I don’t know what got me thinking about it, I was watching New Girl at the time...

My family, along with another family, used to go up to the Lake District every February half term. Now we’re all grown up and there isn’t much point dragging us along, but I miss it! I last went in 2007 and it was glorious, we were old enough to wander towns alone and go on huge rambling walks. Me and my Pops climbed Coniston Old Man [top picture] but were disappointed by all the fog when we reached the top.

I’m a firm believer in walking, I stomp familiar paths when I’m stressed or upset which always gives me time to think and puts everything in perspective. The Lakes are brilliant for this, their natural beauty really makes you feel small and your problems melt away. Climb a mountain, take in the view and I guarantee you’ll feel calmer and back to yourself.

I looked up self catering cottages for November – I love the winter, less tourists, the air is crisper and the sky is a bright blue – and got excited, for 7 nights it was only £340. Bargain. I might save my pennies and go early next year.

  4. I agree about walking! If I physically dont feel well, I walk it out. If I emotionally dont feel well, I walk it out. :)

  6. I've never been to the Lake District but have always wanted to visit as the pictures I've seen are always so beautiful and peaceful!

Plus I love the opportunity to go for walks and clear my head - seeing as I'm doing staycations in the UK at the moment I'll just have to look up how much it would be to go stay next summer! :-)
