Lee's Birthday

This weekend saw Lee's birthday celebrations. We went to The Globe to watch The Taming of the Shrew, I was a bit nervous as we were standing and I'm not a big one for Shakespeare but it was fantastic. The sun was out, and being amongst the peasants on the floor we were in the shade (unlike those sat directly opposite the stage, they must have been practically melting) and we had the pleasure of being right up close to the actors, especially when they walked through us to get on and off.

The play itself was hilarious, sometimes I didn't really understand what they were saying/who was who but I got past that and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The actors were amazing and I realised my life ambition to be on the stage, despite being an awful actor.

Afterwards we headed to the West End where we had dinner in The Wolseley, which was lovely, posh and delicious. There was a man to open the door for us and our waiters kept topping up out glasses. Although I did point out to Lee it would be a pain to propose here as the waiters, although attentive, were a bit much. The toilets were also a let down, I'm one of those people that judges a place on the loos, there was no moisturiser or hand driers here, just paper towels. The food was great, but I don't think you're allowed to take photos, the atmosphere was great as well, it was all very classy.

All in all a lovely Saturday. How was yours?

  1. For my GCSE I have to study Macbeth and I hardly understand anything that's going on!

I LOVE restaurants with seriously classy loos, with bits of perfume and hand towels that once used, you just throw into a bin. Amazing!

  5. I only saw The Globe as we sailed past it on a boat which was a bit disappointing but I don't think I could stand for hours watching a play! I'd need to sit lol. I'm glad Lee had a nice birthday though :)

  9. I've always been the type too not to want to want to go actually see Shakespeare but I love the film 'O' which is apparently a take on Othello. I think thats the rule on how to judge a restaurant isn't it? Good loos good food? just like the way you judge a builder, tidy van, tidy builder? :) xx

  17. Oh that's fabulous! I really loved reading Taming of the Shrew, and like you I am not a big shakespeare-buff but that one is particularly good and timeless. I often find shakespeare hard to get "into" but this as a play would be hilarious I bet, reading it was hilarious.
Fabulous pictures, you look beautiful!! <3
