I've Been Stressed This Week

It takes me a while to adjust things... that's an under statement. It took me about 3 years to get used to being in a relationship with Lee, three months to get used to my job and around four  months to get used to living with Lee.

Now we live in this flat it is throwing me all over the place. I've never lived in a flat before, and I was doing well, better than anyone expected, until last weekend and the subwoofer issue. I've spent the whole week freaking out about it, worrying flat living isn't for me, worrying we're tied in for at least 6 months, worrying I'll never sleep well again (I'm an over thinker).

I've done everything I can to cheer up, Lee's been an absolute doll and stroked my hair when I've cried (half an hour before anniversary-date night), I've cut out caffeine on week nights to try and sleep better and even researched ear plugs.

Luckily there was no noise through the week *touch wood* and when the subwoofer was on at 2am Saturday night, I got back to sleep in 15 minutes (PB EVERYONE, PB!).

I guess what I've learnt this week is that I really like tea, I need to act more like a 22 year old and not a 42 year old, and if I keep worrying about the little things, I'll miss the big picture.

I've baked, attempted crochet (failed) and watched 16 episodes of Modern Family (you heard right, 16) this weekend, feeling far more at home now.

How was your week chums? Learn anything? Any stresses you worked out?

  1. Arrrgh you poor thing, can completely relate. Glad you're settling in a bit now, it's well crap when you're freaking out over something and know it's irrational but you can't stop yourself! So true about not fretting the little things and taking a mo to step back instead :)
Also interested in this crochet attempt malarkey.
I learned that I like farmers markets this week, and off the back of that, I'm getting old...

    1. It is crap isn't it, I wish there was a button I could press to stop it! Crochet = disaster, determined to nail it this week after work though, I'll update either way! Farmers market sounds awesome, can't beat fresh produce xxx

  2. I was absolutely terrified of apartment living too. Now I'm terrified of the suburbs! I've always lived in the city and the thought of ever having to move to the suburbs reduces me to tears (no joke). I'm glad you were able to get back to sleep, I certainly hope things improve :) xoxox

    1. Hahaha well hopefully I'll become terrified of the suburbs when I'm all settled, I'm too young to yearn for a quieter life! Thank you :) xxx

  3. Aww I totally get where you're coming from - I tend to overthink and worry about stuff all the time too! I also tried apartment living and decided it wasn't for me so moved into a house at the end of the 6 month term!

Good luck on your crochet/knitting quest - I've always wanted to try both but figure I'd be uncoordinated and useless lol

    1. Ahh thanks Em, I'm glad I'm not the only one immediately cut out for apartment living - Friends is not true to life! Crochet was a big stress, at least knitting my nan helped me learn xxx

  4. crochet does kind of suggest you've turned into an old woman.. well just kidding. I think it's the Modern Family that's done it for me, tut tut. I do the over worrying thing all the time too, boo!xxx

  5. I hope you're feeling less stressed now! I get stressed a lot and it's so annoying!

We've been having problems at my flat with loud music playing at all sorts of hours, and our landlord has started letting students live in the building and they have parties/gatherings/whatever on week nights and it *really* stresses me out as I work full time! Grr..

  6. Awww I feel for ya. I hope you're feeling less stressed now though, sometimes it just takes time to get used to a new space. I still sometimes feel weird about living with Jeremy and we've been living together for about 8 months now!

  7. Aaww I hope your ok, I feel your pain with the noise, our neighbours this year aren't great but they're angels compared to last years I remember crying several times at 4am because I'd had no sleep because of them! Josh got a little fed up after like the 5th night of me been in tears because he could sleep through it! xxx

  8. Modern family is totally the way forward! I know what you mean, sometimes I seem to get so stressed over little things that I seem to be running around like a mad woman but not actually achieving anything! It's good to take time out and chill and do what makes you happy :)

  9. I get the same way sometimes, I don't always deal very well with change! I watched about six episodes of Modern Family yesterday and I thought that was a lot... I admire your dedication! xx
