My knight in shining armour GONE!

[source]

I'm still a bit on edge in my new bedroom and at 10 to 1 last night and I was woken up by a huge crash. My immediate thought was 'GUNSHOT!', but after my brain had reasoned it wouldn't be that, it jumped to 'BURGLAR'! I lay there doing some deep breathing exercises whilst Lee patted my arm and told me it was ok, a baking tray just fell over (what?) and to go back to sleep.

I calmed down as I hadn't heard anything else for a while, and I begun to express my worry to Lee who then said 'do you want to go and have a look around?' He wasn't awake, he just kind of patted my arm and mumbled in his sleep. The emphasis was on the 'you'. My knight in shining armour was no where to be seen.

I managed, after a few exchanges, to make him get out of bed with me and look around. I had to open the door first though, visions of being face to face with a burglar were flashing through my brain. Turns out the bathroom shelves fell off the wall.

My fear then disappeared but was replaced by annoyance at the shoddy state of the shelving.

  1. whenever i hear a noise in the night i jump to burglar and then think of ways to get out the house. i then send jonny down to see if anyone is there--you can imagine how happy that makes him ;)

  2. haha, oh Lee, what a gent!! I once saw a shadow moving around outside our bedroom door that I was convinced was a crazy axe murderer (honestly my brain, don't know how it comes up with these things) I made Luke switch sides of the bed so he'd die first. So I'd be useless too. let's never have a sleepover x

  7. Urgh, boo to Lee. I have to say that David is quite good at getting up and checking things, so I'd be quite ok. You can borrow him if ya like to scope out your house when it's scary.. xx

  8. YOU are the hero of the story :-) I am so jumpy at things like this, i'm even scared of my own shadow. I haven't got much courage. Oh, Becca, thank you so much for telling my about the Oscar tab not working. You were the only one who told me, so THANK YOU. It has now been fixed now! I think an Oscar blogpost is in order for next week! xxxx

  10. I have the opposite, a man who is over-keen to jump up and check out any noise - sadly he tends to sleep naked. I always think that if we were being burgled the burglar could just fell him with a well aimed kick xx

    1. Or he'd be scared of what this naked man intended to beat him with, and make a run for it

      Just a thought

    2. I was going to say I thought they might run off laughing but didn't want to sound disloyal. My boyfriend is perfectly adequately endowed. Honestly.

  11. oooooh noooo! haha, I would have been so frustrated about the shelving! good thing it wasn't a burglar though. I think if that happened to us, we would probably be both sitting in our room scared for two hours, lol.
