My Bank Holiday

If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you'll realise I'm a home bird. Living and working in London is vastly different from what I grew up around - The Thames is a crappy substitute for the beaches I grew up 5 minutes from.

I went home this bank holiday to celebrate my birthday with my family - rule number 1 of birthdays is to milk them for as long as possible. It is always nice to see my parents, to not have to wash up or think of cleaning. I also got the double bed all to myself which is the best feeling (especially as Lee woke me up snoring last night, that's the kind of shit I have to put up with).

I spent the weekend drinking copious amounts of wine, getting sunburnt on one side and eating. I managed to fit in 2 BBQs, lunch out and dinner out which is quite an achievement for 3 days. I also read a lot of my books Where'd You Go Bernadette (review to come soon) and Sister - I'm still reading Sister and loving it. I even had a couple of naps, something I've not really done since graduating. I miss the days of getting up at 10 and considering that horrifically early and therefore completely justifying my naps at 2...

This week is a busy one at work. I even did a bit from home on Sunday AND got in at 8 on Tuesday. After a bank holiday this was especially hard, I know you're all really impressed and proud. I'm rewarding myself for my hard work by eating copious amounts of chocolate and going to bed early with a good book. As the week gets on I'm fairly sure I will substitute the book for gin...

I hope you all had great ones

  1. Wow you grew up near that beach?! amazing. I remember the days of napping too- our whole house would go quiet around 2m as everyone had a snooze after a tiring morning (1 hour lecture). Anyway, yes we should have a date! Primrose Hill. Tea (or gin). I'll be super awkward and tongue tied. Sounds perfect. xx

  5. I like you because you drink a lot of wine, like me. Let's have a wine party...we'll meet half way (which would be in the middle of the ocean I think).

Excited about more book reviews :)
