Mundane Midweek

Week two of the Mundane Midweek link up, can you believe it?!

My week has been beyond mundane. I keep a real life diary and haven't written in it for two days now because I haven't enough stuff to fill up a page - so now all you guys get to hear it! I've been a bit swamped at work, some days I feel like I'm walking through goop and there is no way out. The clock and the emails conspire against me in my race out of the gloop. This isn't helped by the fact that the weather hasn't been all that great this week and getting fresh air has been far harder; there is nothing worse than being cooped up all day.

Yesterday I had a real downer on my day when I ate lunch and realised that quinoa isn't for me, I bought it in the hope I could add something extra to my salads but it turned out disgusting. I'm going to look up some proper recipes for it and give it a second chance, I can't write off that whole big bag sat in my cupboard!

On that health related note, I bought a yoga mat and pilates resistance bands which I used on Wednesday morning to do some exercise. I though I would get straight back on it and have a six pack after one session.

The reality was vastly different. I crawled out of bed and looked up my exercises on Pinterest (thinking everyone on Pinterest will be just as unfit as me) and I struggled for 20 minutes through push ups, tricep dips and crunches. I was sweating so much more than I though I would prompting me to come face-to-face with the fact my heart is probably surrounded by a nice wall of fat due to all the cookies and chocolate I stuff myself with. After that I thought I'd do some pilates exercises; "I've done them before, got quite good, it will be easy!" No. Shaking legs, deep breathing and a deep burn later I basically crawled to the shower and got ready for work. Today I'm feeling it, my arms feel like I've never worked them before. In fact my tummy muscles feel like that too.

Tonight I'm off out to ruin all that hard work and drink wine. You win some, you lose some.

  1. Aahahahahah, with you on any form of exercise I ever attempt. Currently involved in a losing attempt to get abs. Losing because I do my exercises, stop when I feel any kind of pain and then begin to eat chocolate to combat said pain. It's a vicious cycle, but I think I know what will always win (: I love the concept of mundane midweek, definitely going to have to try and get involved soon! xx

  4. If you think about it, you're cancelling out the wine which in fact means that you can have twice as much as normal! xx

  7. Why does it have to be so difficult to get results from working out?! I think it should be easier. Like you said, one session, and you have a six pack! Why not.

  9. You're always so funny :) I am like that with exercise too, I've gotten into pilates and I do like it but it definitely takes it sweet time making a difference on the body - no abs for me =(

  11. I hate it when work feels like that :(
I'm not a huge fan of quinioa either! I try and force it down sometimes when I'm feeling particularly unhealthy. Also, why is it pronounced Keen-Wahhhhh, stupid. Nice work on the exercise front, I wish I had your dedication, I could never get up before work and do anything of the sort, Neil's lucky if I can speak. I've just ordered a yoga dvd on amazon this morning and I too have the notion that within 24 hours my bum will suddenly look like it did 10 years ago. Watch this space.
