Weekend Scrapbook - Home Edition

Another weekend, another trip home. This time with renewed love and appreciation as my parents told me they are looking to sell up the family home and move far, far away. I literally cannot compute this information and in a bold move of rebellion told my mum that she wasn't going to get a Christmas present and she can forget me coming to visit (even though she would be closer to me), I even escalated it to throw the letter from the estate agents on the floor. My mum just laughed which dented my dramatic ego.

At home I ate, drank, sunbathed (I'm eternally a shade of white) and caught up with my sister & BFF Charlotte. I toddled down to the beach with my mum and we walked whilst I tried desperately to point out how lucky she is to have all this on her doorstep, she knows it deep down. I'm just being a bit selfish about the whole thing, after all the memories I have there are just that - memories. They won't be lost by a change of physical location.

One of my biggest achievements was deep frying something for the first time when my mum and I made homemade tapas. It would have been a greater victory had my dad not sat at the table and joked about the time it had taken to prepare it all!

I've recently realised that all I do is post pictures with a bit of chat. I really need to get back into the text side of the posts, make my words a bit more meaningful, but trudging through the 9-5 of working life and the precious weekends I don't have much to say/much time to say it. I read GOMI as well which has made me realise I really need to stop relying on picture posts, most of the problems people have on the site is the 'perfect life' syndrome or the reliance upon pictures and lists - ME.

I would say watch this space for change, but I probably won't do much. Best to be realistic!

  1. All that food looks immense. I've never deepfried anything (too scared) so u think that's v impressive! Am planning on trying my hand at doughnut making soon, so might have to pop my deep frying cherry. And isn't that a hideous mental image?...

  3. My husband's parents are planning on selling up and moving to France later this year, and it's hit him and his sister really hard that they won't have their family home anymore. It's only natural!

As for the picture and chat thing, I'm feeling the same at the minute- by the time I've got home from work and had my tea I can just about manage to string some sentences together for a post, but wish I was writing something a bit more exciting. I do always love your posts though, whether they're long or not! x

  5. Awe that is sort of sad. I never just had a "family home" cause we moved quite a bit when I was a teen, on the hunt for the "perfect house" constantly it seemed...but I can see that being hard to part with if you have all your family memories attached to that one home.

  7. Lovely photos, I've been through a similar thing recently and although it's made me not want to go back to the place with all of the memories, yet, I'm sure I will one day.

  11. On the bright side, I'm following you on Bloglovin' now! Big comfort, I know. Seriously though, home is where the heart is. You'll always have those memories. It's rough though, if you're so in love with your family home.

May the Force be with you.
