My Sister's Graduation

Of course, my blog name being "Diary of a Diva" it would be terrible of me to go to my sister's graduation and not share her special day with the whole of the internet...

It was a glorious day; the sun was shining, my family were having a grand day out and I was in charge of my dad's proper camera.

My sister graduated in Human Geography with a 2:1, for those of you interested. Three years of booze, take outs and epic library sessions later and she changed from graduand to graduate in the blink of an eye.

As you are limited to two tickets I had to sit in the cinema to watch the ceremony with her boyfriend George (see middle image), this turned out to be the better deal as it was air conditioned, I could nip out for a wee and the camera filming zoomed right in on her, this was compared to my parents who left the ceremony boiling and had had to sit right at the very top!

I was then in charge of the big camera to get the all important photo of her class throwing their hats in the air, I literally trampled people to get into the right position and my dad ended up with about 50 photographs of the same image as I was so nervous about getting the great shot. I think I nailed it though. This was the only part through the whole day I got emotional, it suddenly dawned on me how well she had done. I had to man up though and go congratulate her. Who wants a weepy sister ruining your cool?!

Then we hung around and took photos, afterwards we went to a lovely restaurant where they did a special set menu for the evening as it was pretty full of students. It beat my graduation meal which was a double cheeseburger from McDonalds...

All in all a fantastic day. I wish I could do it all again!

  1. Oh my god, you are the spitting image of your mum, and your sister is similar to your dad!!! Xxxx

    1. Really?! I always think it is the other way around! xx

  2. Sounds like a fun day, my graduation seems like years and years ago, which I guess it was comparatively..xx

  3. I just googled Human Geography. I don't think it's what I expected it to be... but then again I'm not really sure what I expected it to be. Hmmmm. Looks like a super sunny day anyway!! xx

  4. Congratulations to your sister! Sounds like a lovely day xx

  5. Congratulations for your sister! Where did she graduate from? Her gown looks like the one I had at the university of Cumbria. I too had a macdonalds graduation meal, classy! xx

I love hearing from you, try and make me laugh. I dare you.
