Autumn Goals

I can’t believe a week of October is already done and dusted. Time seems to just fly by these days, not helped by my Timehop app which delights in telling me I was a fresher  5 years ago. I have a love/hate relationship with Timehop. It makes me laugh to see what I was doing a year ago on Twitter, but when it shows me my Facebook activity from uni, I just want to curl up in a nostalgic depressed ball.

Download it at your peril.

All over my social media channels are numerous declarations of love for Autumn, pictures of crispy brown leaves, golden sunsets and hot chocolates. I’m not one for the hype of Autumn, even more so now I live in town where I've just become resentful of putting on my coat. In the country it was different; I could splash in puddles and kick leaves until my heart’s content. I took brisk walks along the beach and the cliffs. In town, all I can do is a tour of the chicken shops, or walk into shopping centres and inevitably spend my hard earned dollar. Perhaps I need to turn this frown upside down and suck it up and plan some days in Brighton or Surrey. I do have some more specific things I want to achieve this Autumn (lists really get me going – I know a lot of you out there feel the same).

  • Listen to my body – I’ve been trying to walk more to compliment an after work exercise regime I’m doing. On the side I’ve been trying to alter my eating habits by really thinking before shoving food in my mouth. Hopefully in Autumn I won't be tempted to tuck into the Halloween sweeties!
  • Finish knitting my scarf – The image above is about as far as I’ve got. I’ve been making it for around a month now, chugging along while watching TV like an 80 year old.
  • Make my family’s Christmas cake –I’m going home-home at the end of October and will get cracking with this. What responsibility!
  • Post three times a week – We’ve all been there, the blogging/not blogging scenario. I think this is an easy enough target, I just hope I have enough to say!

What are your goals for Autumn?

  1. My goals are not to have a nervous breakdown when I pack up my house and leave to live in a different city. Another of your goals should be hanging out with me so I have friends when I move x

  3. ah knitting - I've just started my scarf and hope to finish it by the end of the month. Nothing like a good knit in front of the TV - I'm turning into my gran!
Sounds like you're missing the country a lot but london in the autumn can be fun too - it's not just chicken shops I promise! The free museums are made for the colder weather, plus there's lots of nice parks (and epping forest) to explore should you fancy kicking up some leaves and jumping in puddles :) It can't compete with beaches and cliffs but it's a start!
Liking the colours in your scarf, you should post a pic when it's done! x

  4. Ahh, I will be tucking into the sweeties- I'll be exercising, so it's allowed, right?! And I too will be making the Christmas cake- so excited actually, it's such a great thing to do on a Sunday!! Refusing to download TimeHop because I was (and still am) a massive loser, and having my past loserdom pointed out to me will just make me miserable. xx
