Bec vs Pinterest: Chunky Scarf

First off, apologies that this looks like a massive White Stuff advert. If it is any consolation, this scarf isn't available any more.

I will also admit that I didn't find this image on Pinterest, but from the catalogue at my nan's. The above is just a picture I took of it. I loved this scarf from the moment I set my eyes on it and knew I wanted to create one of my own. I'm not sure what stitch this is - if any knitting buffs care to tell me then I'm all ears! I went for a regular ol' 2x2 rib stitch and when coupled with thick wool is unbelievably cosy and chunky.

My scarf is also a bit shorter because I got bored one night and just stopped making it. I do however have to make one for my friend, so will learn from my mistakes and make a much longer one! The joy of this project came in spending the ever lengthening nights with wool all over my lap while watching TV and drinking hot chocolate. Being brainless for an hour a day was rather enjoyable!

I think knitting is becoming a bit cooler these days, something my nan and I are very pleased about!

  1. I am in awe of people who can knit. The scarf you made looks so warm and cozy, and to know you made it yourself, even better! The one you took inspiration from is also gorgeous, I have no idea what the stitch it is, but I like it whatever it is.

  6. Ah it looks lovely and chunky - great colours! Tell me about it - darkening evenings, tv on, knitting on lap, cuppa tea in reach = bliss. I am in no way a knitting expert but...this stitch in the white stuff scarf kinda looks like moss stitch...of course I could be talking utter rubbish but it looks very much like the stitch I'm using in my current knitting project which, I'm informed, is moss stitch. Doesn't matter though as the ribbed effect in yours is perfect x

  8. I love this scarf, the colours are so nice, it will definitely keep you warm! Did you use double knitting or chunky wool? Either way it looks so snuggly! I would say that is either moss stitch or double moss stitch, hope that helps! I love knitting too and do a lot of it, such a cool kid! XxxX
