In pictures: The Lake District

I've now almost got over my post holiday blues so I feel it is high time I posted these images. I can hardly believe I've only been home a week as it feels like one of the longest of my life! Work has been manic, which I don't mind, and it is always going to be the way after a week away from emails but it has meant I've spent an awful lot of time consoling myself with alcohol and junk food. A big shout out to Lottie and Charlotte who allowed me to drown my sorrows in wine and chips midweek!

While we were up in The Lake District we tried to get out of the house every day, but the weather stopped us several times. We walked around several different lakes, climbed a fell and gorged on pasties, pizza and lemon bon bons. The house we stayed in was ideally located a short walk from Bowness town centre and was so warm due to the Aga and central heating (something we don't get to appreciate in our flat!).

I wish the weather was nicer so we could have fitted in a few more activities and my photos were less grey, but the rain provided the perfect excuse to read my book or watch Dinner Date (which my mum bloody loves), and as we're all grown ups we were just appreciative of the time to relax and unwind. I'm now counting the days to Rome, which will be a completely different type of holiday!
