Aperol spritz - the italian way

Aperol spritz has become my new favourite drink. A dry, almost bitter drink it is a perfect way to end the day or start the night.

The bright orange colour and the use of prosecco makes it feel rather exciting. It is gaining momentum and a reputation in London, with even Pizza Express serving it (I have sampled and can tell you it is pretty good), however if you want to make it yourself it is super simple.

You will need:

  • Ice
  • 1 Orange
  • Prosecco
  • Aperol
  • Soda water
To make up, put the ice cubes in a wine glass then pour the prosecco to cover the ice. Add aperol by pouring until you've counted to five (this is how my Italian pal Barbara told me to do it, and it works out fantastically), then top up with soda water. Sip to taste and decorate with an orange slice.

Let me know if you've ever had an Aperol spritz before, or if it is something you'd like to try.

  1. Yes! I too have been ordering aperol spritzes in most of the bars I've found myself in this summer - they're so good! Sounds like it's pretty easy to replicate at home - this could be dangerous :) X

  3. I still can't decide if I'm sold on aperol spritz yet! I've tried it a couple of times but I think the people mixing it put too much in the glass and not enough prosecco. Plus straight-up prosecco is a good old fave just as it is! :D

  6. Aperol was my go-to drink last summer but this summer I kind of forgot it existed which makes me sad now. I'll be off to buy a bottle as we've got loads of fizz at home and the girls coming round tonight! x
